Frequently Asked Questions

A unit price calculator divides a product's total price by its quantity (weight, volume, or number of items) to give you a cost-per-unit figure. By comparing that number across different products or package sizes, you can instantly see which option gives you the most for your money — without doing the math in your head.

Divide the total price by the number of ounces. For example, a 32 oz bottle priced at $4.99 costs $4.99 ÷ 32 = $0.156 per ounce. This calculator does the math automatically — just enter the price, quantity, and select "oz" as the unit.

Yes, as long as they're the same type. Weight units (oz, lb, g, kg) can be compared with each other, and volume units (fl oz, ml, L, gal, qt, pt, cup) can be compared with each other. The calculator automatically converts everything to a common base before comparing. Comparing weight against volume isn't possible (they measure different things), and you'll see a warning if you try.

Usually, but not always. Sales on smaller sizes, store-brand pricing, and clearance items can flip the math entirely. Some warehouse clubs also charge a premium on certain items. Always run the numbers — that's exactly what this tool is for.

Many countries display unit prices per 100 grams or 100 millilitres rather than per single gram or ml, because the resulting number is easier to read (e.g. "$1.23 per 100g" instead of "$0.0123 per gram"). This calculator shows both per-oz/fl-oz and per-100g/100ml so you can use whichever is most familiar to you.

You can compare up to 5 products at once. Use the "Add Another Item" button to add rows, and the "Remove" button on any row to delete it. You need at least 2 items to see a comparison.
